Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 2026
This policy explains what information Localize.to (“we”, “our”, “the service”) collects when you use our website and API, how we use it, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Account data — the email address, display name, and authentication provider identifier you sign in with. We rely on Firebase Authentication for sign-in; passwords never reach our servers.
- Project content — the localization keys, translations, languages, and project settings you create. This is the data the product exists to store.
- Usage metadata — timestamps on your actions (created/updated), aggregate counts of exports and API calls used for billing, and server-side access logs (IP address, user agent) retained for security.
- Contact messages — when you submit the contact form, the name, email, subject, and message you provide are forwarded to our support mailbox.
How we use it
We use the data above to operate the service: authenticate you, store your translations, bill for paid usage, respond to support requests, and protect the service from abuse. We do not sell personal data, and we do not use it for advertising profiling.
Cookies and local storage
We set first-party cookies and use browser local storage for strictly functional purposes: keeping you signed in, remembering your chosen locale and UI preferences, and CSRF protection. No third-party advertising or analytics cookies are used.
Sharing
We share data only with infrastructure providers that run the service on our behalf (hosting, email delivery, authentication, payment processing). These providers act as processors and are bound by contract to handle data only as we instruct. We disclose data to authorities only when legally required.
Retention
Project content is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete a project, its keys and translations are removed. If you delete your account, we remove personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required for accounting or legal reasons.
Your rights
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by writing to support@localize.to. If you are in the EU/EEA, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
