That's the whole pricing model. If it sounds too good, that's because the running cost of localization infrastructure is genuinely low, and we'd rather keep it free for small projects than nickel-and-dime you.

How credits work (the details)
If you like the precise version, here's exactly how your balance moves:
- Once a month, on the 1st, we look at every project you own and check whether it had any activity during the previous month — reading translations from the API, fetching an export, editing keys, inviting a teammate, or having an AI assistant touch content. All of those count equally.
- For each project that was active, we deduct 1 credit. Two active projects = 2 credits. Ten = 10. A project that sat quiet the whole month costs you zero.
- The month you sign up is always free. If you join halfway through March, you won't be charged for March — the first deduction that could possibly apply to you is the one on May 1st (for April).
- No auto-renew, no recurring charge, no invoice in your inbox. The deduction is simply a line in your billing log; you only pay real money when you top up credits from the billing page.
- Run out of credits? Live read API traffic pauses until you top up, but your data, keys and team stay exactly where they are — nothing is deleted.
A concrete example: you have 2 projects. January — both active (−2 credits). February — only one active (−1). March through April — you took a break, nothing happened (−0). May — one project active again (−1). Total for 5 months: 4 credits. Your 5 starting credits cover it, with one to spare.
